The most commonly accepted story of how the margarita came to be? For that, we'd have to travel back to 1938 and speak with a Mexican bartender named Mexican named Carlos Herrera. Legend has it, Herrera invented the cocktail for a visiting American showgirl named Marjorie King. King was allergic to all hard alcohol except tequila. So lucky us! Wait. What? Well, without her curious allergy, Herrera would never have gotten inventive with fresh lime juice and triple sec.
The margarita was an instant hit, and it soon became a staple on menus all over Mexico. Now there are countless variations all over the world.
