Come along to the Midnight Special on Wednesday night to celebrate the launch of Fleur Wiber's new album "Parramatta River". Joining Fleur Wiber will be local Sydney singer-songwriter Justine Wahlin. The two friends will perform their original songs in the intimate setting of the Spesh for the first time!
Fleur Wiber’s music has been described as "Mermaid Country". Born in Hamilton, Victoria, her music has always drawn on folk and country influences, with the "Orderves" EP in 2013 released by Foghorn Records and then "In the Place of My Dreams" in 2016. Working with producers Michael Carpenter, Matt Joe Gow and Andy Pollock, Fleur has really come into her own alt-country rock sound. This launch tour is a celebration of this fun, dreamy, warm and homely-sounding record "Parramatta River", with influences such as Fiona Apple, Neko Case and Wilco.
Justine Wahlin has written countless songs living most of life immersed in the poetic nuances of life's ups and downs. From a gypsy-esque childhood with a musical father, music is etched deeply into the blueprint and offers the only truly satisfying form of expression with which to bear witness to the everyday things just out of sight or the ordinary just beyond our understanding . Like a locksmith with many keys Justine has opened multiple doors that have led to her true passion, to create heartfelt folk and roots with soul.
